This has quickly become my favorite tempo run shoe. I often don’t realize how fast I’m running, because it just feels easy. I did go with a mens, because the toe box of the women’s was too narrow. recommend!
Excess 1 –
This shoe is definitely more cushioned than the first iteration, but it keeps the great geometry. I would prefer to use this for easy miles, but can still be used for speed work.
As someone with relatively low arches, the new Archfit is quite uncomfortable unfortunately. I can separate my experience from the overall score though, because I truly believe this shoe will be more widely accepted than the first version despite my personal preference.
Overall, it feels like what they intended the Excess line to be. The Razor series with a more cushioned feel. Great update!

The Excess 2 may be my new go to racing shoe, even over the Speed Freek. Skechers did such a great job in the update to this shoe over the already popular Excess. The HyperBurst is noticeably softer and has a more cushioned ride than the original while the addition of the carbon plate gives it a snappier more responsive toe off. For me, the Original Excess took some time to break in while the Excess 2 has been a gem right out of the box. This shoe is super comfortable but does not lack in performance. I would reach to this shoe for everything Half Marathon and under. My one wish is that the rubber on the outsole went all the way up to the tip of the toe, as this is an area that I tend to wear out.

The RE2 is a phenomenal update to the original RE. This takes everything I liked about the original and improves the areas that I didn’t love.
The higher stack height (compared to the original Razor 3) of the Excess made the shoe extremely versatile for me. It was no longer relegated to faster runs. I could wear the RE for workouts, tempos, fartleks as well as long runs and easy runs. A true “do everything” style trainer while still performing it’s best at higher speeds–true to the razor vision.
The RE2 keeps that same versatility but dramatically improves the upper. The upper on the RE had a performance/race-day feel to it. The RE2 uses a more traditional, comfortable upper. It may sound silly–but I was much more likely to run ‘too fast’ on days where I shouldn’t have because of that upper. It is much easier to listen to my body in a more traditional upper. I commend skechers for changing that upper and reserving the performance upper for the Speed line of shoes.
Another big improvement is the initial step in comfort. All the recent peer-reviewed scientific studies suggest that comfort is the biggest factor for injury prevention. A shoe has to be comfortable! The new arch fit insole combined with the hyperburst midsole and more comfortable upper does a great job at this. The support from the insole is subtle–but a great improvement over the old school sock liner. It is still removable if you need to toss in a more supportive orthotic.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this update. The last big change was the H-plate in the forefoot. While I appreciate it—I’ll be honest that I am not sure it was needed. The ride of this shoe is already fairly stable and stiff. Shoes like the Max Road 5 need that plate to stabilize it because it’s ridiculously flexible. But this one is pretty stiff on its own. But hey–the plate does add a little pop on a toeoff so I’ll take it! Great work skechers!!

The ArchFit thing is a total disaster.
It pushes against the arch, forces you to pronate, hurts your ankle, makes your calves ache and ruins your neutral form. Why did you do this Skechers?
First time wearing the Excess2, I had to stop running after 3.5km due to very massive discomfort in my feet.
Second time wearing the Excess 2, I did 13km at a slow pace (4:45/km) and my legs were trashed due to the discomfort.
Third time wearing the Excess2, I did 12km at an even slower pace (4:50/km) and had to stop twice because my left foot was numb.
I have been running in Skechers Performance shoes for a little while and never experienced such a thing.
From the moment I have slipped my feet into the Excess2, I knew that the very high arch was going to bother.
I have read that Skechers Performance was going to deploy the ArchFit thing across all shoes. If that’s the case, I will have to find another brand.
Another very annoying point: I am in Canada and there’s no way for us to try the shoes. It’s online order only.
TL;DR: these shoes are ruined by the ArchFit thing. Try them before you buy them.

I am using it for running

Fit was pretty good but a little too much shoe in the toe. Also caused blister on inside of arch. I think this shoe needs a higher offset in the heel. Also felt it needed a bit of stability in the back.

I have two pairs of these black and blue. Both are great for casual wear but also for jogging trying to get work done and in non-weight workout activity. I am going through physical therapy on my left leg and where are these to help with my balance and breathability.

Great foot support. Feels very comfortable while running.

Shoes are light and have a real nice, cushioned, responsive ride. They are a bit narrow even if you go up a half size. Had a little heel slippage but heel lock lacing solved it. Overall I like them.

The curved heal make me feel like I’m falling backwards

This may become my main running shoe from here on out! I have purchased several Skechers men’s performance running shoes lately instead of women’s and the main reason being that I wear a 10 1/2 and that size is not provided for women sizes. So I got a 9 1/2 in men’s in the Razor Excess 2 and it fits a little larger than others I have gotten in this size, so I did go down 1/2 size in the 2nd purchase. I might be able to wear a women’s 10 in this shoe but have not tried yet. Otherwise, outstanding shoe, period. Comfortable and it feels slightly curved which assists in good feel at turnover when jogging/running. I love the Goodyear tread – one of my favorite aspects and Skechers makes really comfortable shoes!

Great Shoes!

I liked the original Razor Excess better as the footbed twists. The Excess 2 does not twist and does not allow your feet to bend with the road. Am trying Hoka now after quite a few pairs of these.
